Crafting with Nurge
On the RSN Royal School of Needlework there are over 200 stitches which are available to view, see and learn how to use, (the link is here https://rsnstitchbank.org/ ), but sometimes it is good to just keep it simple, it’s easier to keep your hands busy but your mind relaxed.
You can make some lovely designs and creations just using a couple of simple stitches. Back stitch and Satin are two examples of this.
Below are some great examples of what can be created with simple Backstitch. These are by Vika at https://www.vikasspacetohang.com/
Back stitch
Backstitch is a basic flat stitch in which the visible element of the stitch is worked backwards to the general direction of sewing to create a continuous solid line.
Satin stitch
A series of straight stitches worked parallel to one another to produce a smooth solid filling. Typically used in monogramming, leaves and petals.
If you are not already ‘up to speed’ on these stitches, why not go to the RSN website and learn them, then have a go at your own designs, it may be easier than you think!
