Not such an ugly duckling!

Fibre artist Megan Zaniewski spends her time sewing delicate air bubbles rippling through the water to capture the movement of ducks, turtles, and other wildlife as they dive into a pond or lake.

With a combination of knots and stitches, Meg sews the ducks bursting through the surface, using thread painting techniques with staggered strands of cotton to depict layered feathers and fur. She’s continually embroidering different species working with fibre-based mediums.

She began embroidery early learning from her mum and grandmother, who were both skilled at needlework.
